MANY Stevenage students will be the first in their family to go on to university, according to headteacher Jonathon Block.

"All our students who wanted university places have enough points to go and two who hadn't considered university are now thinking about it.

"It is a pleasure to see so many Stevenage students becoming the first person in their family to go on to university," said Mr Block.

He said: "Our main aim in Year 13 has always been to encourage our students to get the grades they need for a university education, and this year it looks as if we have a 100 per cent success rate."

Charley Penny and Chris Sharpe collected three grade As each, while Paul Jennings and Sonja Dunbar each went one better with four As.

"As well as some talented individuals, we have good results overall," Mr Block added.

"Nearly 50 per cent of the passes were at A or B grade. This matches the successes we have also had with BTEC and NVQ courses, where almost every student has not only passed but achieved high scores.
