Top of the high achievers was Zoe Nicholls, who got four grade As and will now go to Imperial College in London to study medicine.

Michelle Bethell, Richard Cooke, Elizabeth Gibbs, Kathryn Hobbs, Beatrice Hubble, Wilf Hui and Frances Pope all notched up three A grades and are also now headed off to university.

Mr Wholley added: "They did very well. They are a very nice year, a very pleasant year. They worked hard.
