Pass rates were not available at Hitchin Boys' but the star pupil was James Hadfield, who earned himself an amazing five grade As in maths, further maths, physics, chemistry and biology.
He will now study natural sciences at Durham University.
Keith Allard, assistant head teacher and head of sixth form, said: "It's pretty good.
"I would guess it's pretty much on a par with previous years. We're pretty pleased with this.
"Across the board students of different abilities have all done well.
