The A-level exam results for one Hitchin pupil went swimmingly this morning.

Abigail Gee, a student at Hitchin Girls’ School, gained an AAB in her studies today – to go with having just become a national swimming champion.

Head teacher Frances Manning said: “Abigail has shown an amazing dedication and capacity for hard work, both in her studies and in the pool, we are all very proud of her, as we are of all our pupils.

“I am delighted for all our students and with their successes in the A and AS examinations.

“I am particularly proud of those who have managed to overcome specific personal challenges over the past year in order to succeed.

“All of our students and their teachers can be very proud of their achievements – they are very well deserved.”

Abigail, 18, added: “I’m really pleased.”

A total of 15 girls at the school achieved three passes with grade A or A*, with two managing four passes at grade A and A*.

Four of the students will be studying medicine at university with a further three on mathematics courses.
