THE sun shone on Shefford at the weekend as the town got together for its annual gala.
Celebrations started on Saturday night with a family disco at the Shefford Town Memorial Association hall.
The next day residents lined the streets in the blistering sunshine to watch the parade.
Colourfully decorated floats, majorettes, stilt walkers and samba band Toque Tambor made their way from Robert Bloomfield Middle School to the STMA playing field on Hitchin Road.
The STMA won the prize for best senior float and Shefford Lower School's Victorian themed entry took the prize for best junior float.
When the parade arrived at its destination the gala itself kicked off, attracting large crowds all afternoon.
Shefford mayor Paul Mackin said: "The whole community can be proud of the fact that this was one of the best supported events we have seen in Shefford in recent years.
