DARTH Vader and his Stormtroopers stopped off in Hitchin on Saturday.

The characters came from UK Garrison, a national group which supports children's charities, and visited a super-sized book sale on Saturday at the British Schools' Museum as part of North Hertfordshire Book Festival.

In the playground there was also a giant Darth Vader model which came from the toy company Hasbro.

More than 300 people attended the event and they bought on average five books each, raising more than £300.

On the same day around 70 people attended Hitchin Museum for James Mayhew's storytelling, and the Jane Austen afternoon tea raised nearly £300 on Sunday, also for the British Schools' Museum.
