LOVERS of robust singing will be in for a treat this weekend - and it is free!

Shannon Express, the Potton-based men's harmony club, will be holding their dress rehearsal for the 2006 Barbershop Convention when they take to the stage at Sandy Upper School this Sunday, May 7.

The event starts at 2.30pm and supporters of the group and members of the public can go along and hear the men going through their repertoire of songs prior to heading off to convention run by the British Association of Barbershop Singers whose aim is to support the development and enjoyment of close harmony singing in the barbershop style.

This year the event is taking place at the Harrogate Convention Centre in Yorkshire when 30 groups from around the country will compete for the coveted gold medal.

Shannon Express won gold twice in the 1990s and will again be striving to bring this highly prized trophy back to Potton.

The group is looking for men of all ages interested in singing four part close harmony music. If you want to sing your heart out you can join the group which meets at Potton Lower School, Everton Road, Potton, every Thursday at 8pm.
