HAVING made a big splash at the Rotary Club of Biggleswade swimathon, local businessman Dave Savage was honoured recently when he was presented with a certificate to mark his efforts.

Mr Savage, who runs an electrical contracting company Savage and Sons on the Stratton Business Park in Biggleswade, raised £200 for local charities at the swimathon to earn himself the best corporate fundraiser certificate from Rotary Club president Maurice Jones.

Said Mr Savage: "The swimathon is an ideal event for getting fit, having some fun - we called our team Sav's Sploshers - and building a good team atmosphere at work."

Mr Savage is now issuing a challenge to local companies asking them whether they are fit enough to raise more money than his team.

If you think you can make waves and take up Mr Savage's challenge, the next swimathon is at Biggleswade's Saxon Pool on Saturday, April 8.

Companies and other organisations who want to enter a team and take up the Savage challenge for charity should contact organiser Eddie Fuller on 01767 316104.
