SPRING is the traditional time for giving our homes a good clean, but you could also help give the local area a good spring clean too.

As part of the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign, Stevenage Borough Council is inviting residents and community groups to a series of clean-up events.

Environmental campaigns officer Laura Injac said: "This is a great way for Stevenage residents to get involved in their local green space. It is one of the council's top priorities to maintain a clean and green environment and this annual event has been well supported by residents in the past."

Equipment and gloves will be supplied but make sure you wear stout shoes and old, weatherproof clothes.

Events are on Sunday, April 23, at Roebuck Wood between 10am and noon (meet at entrance between 85 and 89 Broad Oak Way) and Sainsbury's, The Poplars on the same day between noon and 2pm (meet next to the pond, behind the community centre).
