One of Hitchin’s twinned towns has pledged to donate €5,000 to support Team Super Seraph after a visit last month.
Bingen am Rhein Mayor Thomas Feser and head of tourism management Georg Sahnen were invited to meet four-year-old Seraph Thomas, who needs £250,000 to fund treatment to stop his high-risk neuroblastoma.
They met Seraph and his family at Hitchin Town FC’s Top Field ground during their Super Seraph Day against Bedworth on Saturday, March 23, with Mr Feser authorising the donation to the campaign.
David Leal-Bennett, who organised Mr Sahnen’s visit, said: “The mayor had been emailed by a friend of Seraph’s family before the weekend and was aware of the fundraising efforts and the support of The Canaries.
“Thomas and Georg wanted to see if they could meet Seraph so on Saturday morning we managed, through the Comet, to make contact and were invited to watch the match.”
