Police have issued an update on a six-vehicle crash which shut a stretch of the A1(M). 

Officers were called to reports of a collision on the carriageway between Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City at 6.17pm on Friday (June 19). 

Six vehicles were involved and emergency services raced to the scene before closing the road. 

The incident caused severe delays of more than 20 minutes on the approach to the incident. 

No injuries were reported and traffic began to clear from around 7.10pm, Hertfordshire police confirmed.
