Police are ramping up patrols in Stevenage after a girl was allegedly approached by a man who offered her money for sex.
Officers were made aware of the incident which is said to have taken place at around 8.30am on The Avenue.
The man, not known to the girl, reportedly made inappropriate comments before he asked her for sexual activity in exchange for money.
Hertfordshire Police is now appealing for witnesses and those with information to come forward.
PC Amy Mairs said: "I am appealing to the public for information and witnesses following this incident, which officers are taking very seriously and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information can contact me by emailing amy.mairs@herts.police.uk, and quoting ISR 390 of Tuesday 16 June.
“I understand this this may be a concern to local residents, and there will be increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance and support to the community.
"Anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to speak to local officers.”
