A former Hertfordshire police officer accused of “controlling, intimidating and harassing behaviour” towards a colleague he was in a relationship with will face a misconduct hearing next week.
The former officer, who can only be referred to as PC X, allegedly failed to take safeguarding steps or report concerns about the welfare of the colleague he was in a relationship with.
He is also accused of “a pattern of dishonest behaviour”, including pretending to be a colleague to “send misleading messages”.
The reported “controlling, intimidating and harassing behaviour” includes allegations of “confronting individuals connected to his colleague, attending her home aggressively and making threats”.
A public notice published in advance of the hearing, which will be held on Tuesday, June 2, also alleges that former PC X continued contact with his colleague despite restrictions, including “using a previously agreed ‘safe word’ to try to re-establish communication”.
The misconduct panel will decide whether former PC X breached Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to honesty and integrity; authority, respect and courtesy; and discreditable conduct.
He is accused of breaching the standards to the level of gross misconduct.
