LNER has revealed how it will stop Stevenage passengers boarding trains to and from London, with services set to stop as part of a new timetable.
Questions have been asked about how LNER will stop passengers getting on and off these services, and a spokesperson has now confirmed how this will take place.
"Because of the changes, customers wouldn't be able to buy a valid ticket for an LNER journey between Stevenage and King’s Cross," a spokesperson said.
According to LNER's website, customers travelling on their services without a valid ticket will be issued with a Unpaid Fare Notice.

"If you have travelled without a valid ticket and have been asked to pay for a new ticket or excess fare (whichever is applicable) but can't do so, you may be issued with an Unpaid Fare Notice," the website reads.
"This doesn't require you to pay an extra charge, penalty or fine - just to pay the fare requested for the journey, because a valid ticket wasn't presented."
Explain more about the decision to stop Stevenage services to and from London, the spokesperson added: "The new rail industry timetable will provide more services and faster journeys for millions of people across the East Coast Main Line from December 2025.
"To deliver these enhancements, we have looked to balance the needs of all our customers - and that means a few changes to some long-distance services.
"This includes changes to journeys between London and Stevenage to help enhance the overall performance of train services.
"As an industry, we have worked together to make sure customers remain well served. From December 2025, there will be much stronger LNER connectivity from Stevenage to destinations in the north such as York, Darlington and Newcastle, with fellow train operators providing Stevenage with frequent connections to and from the capital.
"There will be 116 trains per day from Stevenage to either London St Pancras or London King's Cross, and 113 trains in the opposite direction, including both fast and stopping services, maintaining quick and strong connectivity for customers."
