This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald.

Stevenage Old Town Business and Community Partnership have launched a Local Residents' Committee to involve and learn from residents their views, thoughts and wishes for the High Street and its future. Dave Cattell is Chair and application forms are available from Carides in the High Street - we are working on an e-mail contact.

The Christmas Lights switch-on saw the forth presence in the High Street where the idea is being presented and residents can chat to Committee members. The previous have been under gazebos outside Simmons and Cinnabar.

The gazebos have featured the Herts County Council planned works to the High Street and opinions sought about parking and the proposed Plaza. These are ongoing as the detail for the works is developed - your opinion, ideas and thoughts are invited.

The works are presently scheduled to commence early in 2026 and take about six months. We are working with HCC to minimise impact on local businesses and the High Street in general - watch this space.
