Footage has captured firefighters tackling a large blaze that was "started deliberately" in a children’s playground.
A spokesperson for the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue confirmed it sent a fire engine from the Royston station to Luynes Rise, Buntingford, to tackle the blaze at around 5.35pm yesterday, June 14.
The fire service stated online it had been “started deliberately” as they posted a photo of the slide and wooden tunnel on fire in the playground behind the Seth Ward Community Centre.
They added the incident had left the playground out of action and drawn firefighters away from attending other calls.
Buntingford resident Mandy Marks came across the blaze in the playpark yesterday afternoon and called the fire service.
She shared videos online of the slide covered by flames more than two metres-high and the fire crew later blasting the structure with water to put it out.
