A planning application has been submitted to turn offices in Letchworth into one-bedroom flats.

The plans, submitted by Kuldip Singh, would see the space above Nationwide at 16 Leys Avenue turned into two apartments.

Each flat comes with a bedroom, bathroom, storage spaces and a "generous living and kitchen spaces", with access set to be provided through the neighbouring Arcade.

"The application makes use of existing accommodation in a highly sustainable location," reads a design and access statement.

"Changes to the external appearance are minimal and sympathetic to the existing building and the wider conservation area.

"The second floor of the building has already been converted to residential use, and both flats provide space in excess of the recognised national space standards."
