A seven-year-old girl who has been battling a brain tumour for most of her life has inspired a group of walkers to take on a charity fundraiser.
Lily-May Betts, who was born in Hitchin and now lives in Stevenage, was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was just 12 months old, and has been receiving treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Inspired by Lily's story, a Stevenage-based walking group are planning a 27-mile trek to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, for which Lily-May's grandmother, Hayley Conroy, is a trustee.
The Broken Seal Walkers are planning to walk around the Stevenage Outer Orbital Path (STOOP) over two days - May 25 and 26.
David Cattell, one of the joint organisers, said: "We are a walking group based in The Broken Seal Tap Room in Stevenage Old Town.
"We have a variety of walkers - some are doing one day, some will do a few miles, but all will enjoy it. We have divided the walk into quarters, and have pick-up points and drivers willing to pick people up."
He also said: "The charity is set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change."
