North Herts College and St Paul's Walden Nursery have both received council grants to support their work.

North Herts Council's Hitchin Area Forum awarded £1,050 to North Herts College to organise 'The Big Draw' event.

The Big Draw, scheduled for October 29, aims to enhance creativity and community engagement through artistic activities.

This follows the success of their event last year which attracted more than 200 participants.

Melissa Caneppele, community and engagement executive at North Herts College, said: "We are thrilled to be awarded this community grant in order to make our Big Draw Festival event even better this year.

"We look forward to opening the doors of our Hitchin Campus to the public again for lots of free creative activities at this year's event."

Meanwhile St Paul's Walden Nursery received £2,538 from the council's Southern Rural Area Forum to go towards the cost of replacing the classroom flooring.

Jade Watkins, nursery manager at St Paul’s Walden Nursery, said: “We are very pleased to have the support of the forum to allow us to continue to provide a safe and nurturing space by giving the flooring a much-needed revamp.

"This will ensure the children can continue to thrive and achieve the best outcomes.”
