One of the most influential British groups of all-time released a single on October 29, 1965 which remains one of their most famous hits to this day.

Four days before 'My Generation' first went on sale in record shops across the country, The Who were on stage at a venue in Hertfordshire performing in front of dozens of adoring young fans.

Vocalist Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon were regular visitors to the Watford Trade Union Hall in their early years after forming in London in 1964.

A Watford Observer photographer was in the audience and we are delighted to be able to once again share these fabulous pictures from part of Hertfordshire's musical history almost 60 years since they were first taken.

'My Generation' peaked at No. 2 in the charts and the band went on to become global stars with 14 top ten singles and 16 top ten albums in the UK alone.
