As the centre for volunteering service for North Herts and Stevenage (CVS), we are dedicated to helping charities thrive.

Our mission is to enable the voluntary and community sector to reach its full potential, break down barriers to doing good in the community, and improve the lives of those benefitting from each unique organisation.

Every year, we set out to provide support to as many charities as possible across North Hertfordshire and Stevenage, and we’re already working on so much to ensure we make this year better than the last.

As the only resource in North Herts and Stevenage for charities, community, and volunteer projects, we equip organisations and individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their unique objectives.

Offering organisations advice on funding, policy making, and more, we also address known skill gaps, providing training, as well as vital opportunities for relationship building within the sector.

This year, the help and support we offer to local voluntary and community groups (VCFSE) is already on track to be more valuable than ever.

At our annual conference, at the Letchworth Broadway Hotel on Tuesday 21st May, we’re uniting nearly 150 people working across sector.

Under this years’ theme of The Power of Storytelling, we will emphasise the importance of storytelling when building awareness for your organisation, attracting volunteers or applying for funding.

We will be sharing how to do so with the expert knowledge of a guest speaker and workshop host.

Our 2024 training program has already begun it’s roll out. With workshop dates announced for both Safeguarding Essentials and an Introduction to Sustainability, available to all those working within the VCFSE sector on North Hertfordshire and Stevenage.

Lastly, our new website will soon be live, giving CVS members access to an exclusive members-only area, containing enhanced advice and support.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the charity sector, we exist to build the capacity of volunteering, faith and community groups as well as social enterprises.
