Stevenage's Labour Party has launched its 2024 manifesto ahead of the Local Elections in May.

Last Sunday (March 24), more than 65 candidates, volunteers and members of the public gathered at St Nicholas Community Centre.

The party will be standing 39 candidates in this year's Local Elections, taking place on Thursday, May 2.

The manifesto outlines Labour's plans to deliver a "safer, stronger Stevenage".

Stevenage Borough Council leader Richard Henry said: “I am proud to be the leader of this fantastic Labour Group and Council.

"The manifesto we are launching has five key pledges for us to focus on, pledges residents asked us to prioritise:

  • Create well paid jobs in our town
  • Deliver a new leisure centre in Stevenage
  • Build more housing for local families
  • Make neighbourhoods safer and cleaner

Labour's parliamentary candidate for Stevenage Kevin Bonavia added: "It’s great to see the big ambitions of Stevenage Labour in this manifesto, especially creating more local jobs and building more homes for local families."
