A Baldock student has been lavished with praise for his "passion and commitment" after organising a non-uniform day fundraiser to support a nearby foodbank.
Charlie Prutton - a Year 13 student at Knights Templar school - organised, marketed and managed the event which saw students donate items to be collected by volunteers from Letchworth Food Bank.
Charlie said: “The foodbank non-uniform is a key charity event in the school calendar now and I am thrilled it will continue in the years to come.
"Over the past two years it has been incredible to see the number of donations coming in from parents, carers, students, and staff. Along with this, students from across year groups have shown real enthusiasm to support the collection and foodbank. “
The initiative also saw students attend assemblies led by former student and Letchworth Foodbank trustee chair Paddy Bryne, who spoke about the organisations work over the last 12 months, which saw them support a total of 613 households.
Headteacher Mr Hutchings said: “It was wonderful to see the generosity from students and their families in the contributions to the Letchworth Foodbank for non-uniform day.
"Massive thanks go to Charlie Prutton for his initial idea and the coordination and management. The power of one simple idea, passion and commitment is plain for all to see.”
