Police have launched an appeal as part of an investigation into two pupils being attacked by a gang of teenagers outside a school in Stevenage last week.

At around 3pm on Wednesday last week (March 13), as pupils were leaving Barclay Academy in Walkern Road, two Year 11 Barclay students were attacked by a gang of six teenage boys from another school.

Dr Matthew Laban, headteacher at Barclay said "a vigilant staff member intervened, putting herself at risk", and that her "swift actions prevented further harm" to the students.

The two victims were taken to hospital with head and hand injuries.

As part of an ongoing investigation into the assault, detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or who may have captured it on a dash cam or a security camera, to get in touch.

Investigating officer, DC Daniel Judge, said: "The six offenders were quickly traced and arrested, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

"We are, however, still looking for witnesses. We have spoken to a number of people who were in the area at the time, but we believe there may be others who witnessed the assault or who may have captured it on camera, who have not come forward.

"This was a busy time of day and there may have been many people in the area who saw the boys and maybe the incident itself. If this was you, please get in touch. If you were driving in the area at the time, with an operational dash cam, please also contact us."
