Visiting times at Lister Hospital in Stevenage have been extended during Ramadan, to support members of the Muslim community.

A spokesperson for the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, which runs Lister, explained: "In 2024, Ramadan began on the evening of March 10 and ends on April 9, followed by the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr.

"The practice of fasting is an important part of Ramadan. This involves the complete abstinence from food, drink and smoking between dawn and sunset over the month. It’s also a time for self-reflection and evaluation.

"To support members of our Muslim community, we will be extending visiting times at the Lister for Ramadan.

"From Thursday, March 14 to Wednesday, April 10 all visitors will be able to spend time with their loved one in hospital until 10pm.

"Check the visiting hours section of our website for information about the times visiting opens for each ward."
