Preparations are well under way for Hitchin Forum's annual Big Spring Clean.

This year's litter pick will take place on Sunday, March 24.

Organiser Bill Sellicks, who is co-chair of Hitchin Forum, said: "Alongside our stalwart supporters we’re looking forward to welcoming a number of new volunteers wanting to get involved.

"This time we’ve had a number of people offering suggestions of new areas they would like to clean-up which is really encouraging.

"Some people just can’t stay away – in spite of moving to Wisbech, former Hitchin resident and litter-picking enthusiast Chris Hall is coming back help out on King George’s Playing Field again.

"If you can spare a couple of hours on the 24th, would like to join our growing army of volunteers and have the satisfaction of helping to keep the town clean, do get in touch by emailing hflitterpick@gmail.com and we will send you full details and ask you to complete a short online registration form."

If you want to take part but do not have your own equipment Hitchin Forum will supply litter-pickers and bags.

Hitchin Forum aims to bring people together to publicly discuss ideas and help protect the future of Hitchin and its environment.
