Planning permission has been granted for three council-owned vacant garage blocks to be demolished and four detached houses built in their place in Hydean Way in Stevenage.
The planning, design and access statement accompanying the application to Stevenage Borough Council says the new homes, which will be accessed via Shephall Green, will have "traditional styling, with Arts and Crafts influences."
It continues: "The design of the proposed dwellings seeks to reflect the older buildings along Shephall Green, rather than the mid-20th century dwellings in the vicinity, which are of lesser architectural interest."
Benefits of the development listed in the statement include that it "would make a modest contribution to the local housing stock," and "would remove existing garage blocks, which are unsightly and subject to anti-social behaviour."
