Road closures are among the key public notices in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire that are set to affect residents.

1. Elder Way/Rockingham Way and Homestead Moat in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Elder Way/Rockingham Way and Homestead Moat in Stevenage.

Traffic will be banned from the following sections of road:

  • 330m of Elder Way/Rockingham Way, from the junction with A602 Monkswood Way to the junction with Bowcock Walk. An alternative route will be available via A602 Monkswood Way, Six Hills Way and Rockingham Way
  • 300m of Homestead Moat, from the junction with Six Hills Way to the junction with Cuttys Lane. An alternative route will be available via Six Hills Way, Colestrete, Bedwell Crescent and Cuttys Lane

The closure is to enable works to be carried out, and will come into force on March 4 for a period of up to 18 months.

However, the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly, with closure times specified on signs on or near the road.

2. Bucklersbury in Hitchin

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Bucklersbury in Hitchin.

Traffic will be banned from a 152m section of the road, from the junction with Tilehouse Street to the junction with Market Place.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Tilehouse Street, Bridge Street, B656 Queen STreet, Hermitage Road, Bancroft, High Street and Market Place.

The order would come into force on March 18 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road would only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

Closure times would be specified on signs on or near the road.

3. Weston Road in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Weston Road in Stevenage.

Traffic will be banned from an 18m section of the road, near the junction with Rectory Lane.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Almonds Lane, Grace Way, Canterbury Way, Great Ashby Way, St Albans Link and Weston Road.

The order will come into force on March 4 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

Closure times will be specified on signs on or near the road.

4. Chagny Close in Letchworth

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Chagny Close in Letchworth.

Traffic will be banned from the entire length of the road, and no alternative route will be available.

The closure is to enable works to be carried out.

The order will come into force on March 4 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

Closure times will be specified on signs on or near the road.

5. Broadwater Lane in Aston

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Broadwater Lane in Aston.

Traffic will be banned from a 42m section of the road, from the junction with Aston End Road to the junction with Aston Lane.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Benington Road, Stringers Lane and Aston Lane.

The order will come into force on March 18 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.
