Letchworth's Settlement Players will extend their successful season of plays with Shakespeare's romantic comedy Twelfth Night.
The play, laden with mischief, heartache and concealed identities, unfolds at The Settlement on Nevells Road from March 14 to March 16.
The tale of Viola, who posing as Cesario falls for Duke Orsino while inadvertently attracting the affections of Olivia, promises a rousing evening of classic theatre.
Director Samantha Powell said: "These days Twelfth Night is when we frantically take down our Christmas decorations but it used to be a huge day of celebration.
"Also known as the ‘Feast of Fools’, it was a day of raucous partying and mischief-making, when social order was reversed and normal conventions dispensed with - men dressing as women, servants pretending to be their masters and practical jokes aplenty.
"And these things can be seen in spades in this hilarious, high energy production.
"A talented cast of 15 explode onto the stage - singing, dancing, drinking, fighting, falling in love, playing tricks and plotting revenge.
"If you think you don’t like Shakespeare I urge you to come and see this show: it’s so much fun, easy to follow and definitely not long and boring."
