One of the oldest restaurants in Abbots Langley - Abbots Tandoori - has been shortlisted for an award in the "Oscars" of the Indian food industry.
Serving customers in Abbots Langley, Watford and the surrounding areas since 1988, it's made the finals of the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway awards (ARTA) after recently undergoing a revamp with a newly refurbished private dining area.
The popular restaurant was established 36 years ago, with some of the team including head chef Kalaam working together for more than 26 years.
Owner Emon Chowdhury said: "We are very proud to be shortlisted - it's like the Oscars for the industry. This was a tough process with mystery diners coming in three times as part of the selection process. You have to be at your best all the time for our customers but also to progress in these awards. You're not told in advance of the visits.
"We've been here a long time and have loyal staff. However, we've also invested and have a newly decorated private dining area and VIP tables. Our function room for parties holds up to 40 people.
"We appreciate all the hard work our team has put in to make the business a success and get the nomination. And we're also grateful to our fantastic customers over the years and during the pandemic when it was a tough time for restaurants. This nomination is for everyone."
Rated Number 1 on TripAdvisor of the 28 ranked restaurants in Abbots Langley, and third in Hertfordshire, Abbots Tandoori in Langley Parade, Langley Road, Abbots Langley was recently awarded a five star food hygiene rating for the second time in a row.
The ARTA awards ceremony will be held at the Hilton on Park Lane, London, on October 8.
