Stevenage will mark Holocaust Memorial Day with an event supported by Stevenage Liberal Synagogue and Stevenage Borough Council.
The annual occasion will be held on Monday, January 29, in the Council Chamber at Daneshill House from 6.15pm.
Each year on January 27, Holocaust Memorial Day encourages remembrance in a world marred by genocide.
The date marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.
The theme for this year, "Fragility of Freedom," aims to explore how the freedoms of those targeted during genocide are restricted, and encourage people to not be complacent about freedom.
Mayor of Stevenage, Myla Arceno, said: "We are proud to support Holocaust Memorial Day every year, which provides an opportunity for our residents to remember all those who were murdered under Nazi persecution during the Holocaust.
βIt is also a chance to reflect on subsequent genocides that have taken place throughout the world.β
Residents can also take part in the national moment at 8pm on January 27.
People across the country will light candles and place them safely in their windows.
This action serves to remember those who were murdered and stands as a statement against prejudice and hatred today.
