Demolition of the Luton Airport car park that was destroyed in a fire has begun.
The blaze broke out at Terminal Car Park on October 10, damaging around 1,400 cars.
A spokesperson for the airport said in November that the car park would be "fully demolished", and they have now confirmed that the work has begun.
It is expected to take up to 16 weeks to complete, and cars will be removed from the car park throughout the process.
After the cars have been removed, they will be taken by salvage companies appointed by insurers.
Neil Thompson, operations director at London Luton Airport, has previously said that the "vast majority of insurance claims have been settled".
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service previously said that it is unlikely that any of the cars inside the car park would be salvageable.
Police officers believe that the inferno began when a diesel car suffered an electrical fault or leaking fuel line. They arrested a man in his 30s "as a precaution" several days after the fire, and he was later released on bail pending further inquiries.
