A consultation has launched on council plans for a scheme of 38 new homes in Stevenage.

Stevenage Borough Council wants to build 38 homes on land off Clovelly Way, including 24 three and four-bed houses and 12 one and two-bed flats.

The council says the proposed scheme will be a mixed development of private sale housing and affordable accommodation which will be retained by the local authority, but that "the final mix has yet to be determined".

The scheme includes 75 parking spaces.

Councillor Jeannette Thomas, deputy leader of the council and portfolio holder for housing and housing development, said: "We are working hard to combat homelessness in Stevenage.

"There is a high number of people waiting for properties on our council housing register, hence the reason for schemes consisting of mixed tenure properties.

Once any necessary design amendments have been made, a full planning application will be submitted to the planning authority - Stevenage Borough Council - for review.

If planning permission is granted, it is expected to take 24 to 30 months to complete the scheme.
