Hundreds of Hitchin residents gathered yesterday (November 12) to remember the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.
A parade commenced at 9am, travelling from Hitchin Army Reserve Centre to St Mary's Church, via Grammar School Walk.

A civic service was then held at the church from 10am, with a gathering and Act of Remembrance at the nearby War Memorial following shortly before 11am.
Proceedings were led by Rev'd Chris Bunce, Vicar of St Mary's.

Among those attending were Bim Afolami, the MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, councillors including Cllr Elizabeth Dennis, Cllr Chris Lucas and Cllr Ian Albert, and representatives from organisations such as the cadets, scouts, Hertfordshire Constabulary, and the East of England Ambulance Service.

On social media, a spokesperson for St Mary's Church wrote: "About 500 people attended our service this morning including cadets, scouts, guides and dignitaries for Remembrance Sunday.
