A school in Hitchin had to close earlier today due to problems with its fire alarm.
Pupils at Highover JMI School and Nursery were sent home this morning after the school's fire alarm was activated and could not be reset.
On behalf of the school, a spokesperson from Hertfordshire County Council explained: "Earlier today, the school’s fire alarm was activated. Thankfully this was a false alarm.
"Due to difficulties in resetting the alarm, the school has taken the decision to close early today, while the issue is resolved.
"It would not be right and safe for the school to remain open whilst the fire alarm is inactive.
"Site security is further compromised as the security doors remain unlocked until the system is reset."
