The Queen Mother Theatre in Hitchin is presenting a 'gripping drama' for its first show of the season.

The Height of the Storm by Florian Zeller follows a couple looking back over 50 years of marriage, who realise their loving union may not be as perfect as they thought.

Florian Zeller won an Oscar for his 2020 film adaptation of his previous play The Father, starring Anthony Hopkins - who also won an Oscar for his performance.

The Height of the Storm was selected by The Guardian as one of the greatest plays of the 21st century.

Performances take place at 7.45pm from Monday, October 2 to Saturday, October 7.

This year the Queen Mother Theatre - which is Hitchin's first purpose-built theatre - is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Owned and run entirely by the Bancroft Players, the theatre has been host to more than 300 productions since it was founded.

The 40th year has been one of the busiest in the theatre's history, with many performances already taking place and more lined up - along with a special gala evening for members.
