Baldock Services is among the most expensive in the UK for charging electric vehicles, a study has found.

Research by DriveElectric found the services off the A1(M) cost £0.73 per kWh, the joint third most alongside Cullompton, Chorley and Peterborough.

Leeds Skelton Lake took second place with a cost of £0.74 per kWh, while Sarn Park was the most expensive with £0.76 per kWh.

Fellow Hertfordshire service station South Mimms was among the cheapest, ranking in joint second with Hopwood Park, Exeter and Rugby at a price of £0.52 per kWh, just behind Scotch Corner at £0.50 per kWh.

There are around 840,000 fully electric cars in the UK, and a further 520,000 plug-in hybrids, with demand for charging points constantly increasing. As of July 2023, there were 45,737 charging points in 26,805 locations across the nation.
