CCTV images of two men police would like to identify following two thefts in Hitchin have been released by police.

At around 11.10am on Wednesday, August 2, two men went into Brooker & Sons Ltd on Bilton Road and picked up around £1,000 worth of hand tools, before walking out without paying for the goods.

Then, between 11.27am and 11.32am on the same day, two men went into Asset Fixings & Tools Ltd on Wilbury Way.

They walked into the shop and selected items from the display, before placing the products under their coats and walking out without paying for the items.

PC Martin Barringer, of North Herts Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or who recognises the men in the images.

"They are thought to have been in the area around the time of the incident and could be able to help with our enquiries.

"If you recognise them, then please contact me by email via martin.barringer@herts.police.uk.

"Additionally, if you see any hand tools being sold in the area under suspicious circumstances, please report this to us.

"I also want to encourage businesses to stay vigilant and if you notice any suspicious activity in your shops, particularly in the Hitchin area, contact police."
