This year has seen raft of impressive A-level results across Hertfordshire - and many students in Stevenage and North Herts have thanked their teachers as they depart school for pastures new.

Following a turbulant few years in education - with this year's leavers suffering through the Covid pandemic during their GCSE years - there have been plenty of success stories, whether pupils are heading to university, apprenticeships or employment.

Thomas Alleyne Academy student Lucas Lewis-Price received A*AB in maths, physics and computer studies, and has accepted his first choice of Southampton University this morning, where he will be reading Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering.

He said: "I'm amazed by how well I've done. I'm so happy I got my place at Southampton, and I can't wait to start my course next month."

Teachers at Baldock's Knights Templar School has also received a raft of praise from departing pupils. 

Lauryn West completed three A-levels, achieving all A*’s in criminology, English literature and law.

She will be studying English literature and creative writing at the University of Warwick.

Lauryn said: “Since joining KTS at Sixth Form - it has been a rewarding and enriching experience. I am delighted with my results.”

Fellow KTS student Matthew Dowsett received A*AAA in physics, computing, maths and further maths will be going to Lancaster University to study theoretical physics with mathematics.

He said: “I was happy and surprised with my results as some of the exams were really hard. Thank you to my teachers, who were always available to offer support, at any time of day.”

Marriotts students have also been singing their teachers' praises.

Thomas, who received an A* in maths, A in further maths, A in physics, and an A in EPQ.

He said: "I want to thank all my teachers for being so supportive the past two years. I could not be more excited for my future at university and I owe it to all those around me."

Another happy student from the Stevenage school was Frances.

Her grades were biology (A), chemistry (A), psychology (A).

She said: "I am really happy with my results! I got 3A’s in biology, chemistry and psychology and had a call to offer me a place to study medicine!

"I would like to thank all my teachers who have helped me in my time at Sixth Form, thank you for believing in me!"
