A fundraiser has been launched to support two businesses devastated by the fire at Baldock industrial estate yesterday evening.

Firefighters from Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service raced to the scene in London Road after being called at 6.15pm, and remained at the fire as of 10.30pm, having declared a "major incident".

Hertfordshire County Council said "more than 40 units have been affected" by the blaze, and they were "in the process of contacting the owners before more detailed information was released".

Among them were car detailing studio Marsh Detailing, and pram cleaning service Buggy Bath Ltd, both owned by Emily and Ben Marsh.

A fundraiser has been launched by Emily's sister, Jules Alderman, who is hoping to raise £15,000 to support the businesses after their contents insurance had expired and they lost all their equipment.

"They have worked tirelessly as new business owners over the last few years to make both Marsh Detailing and Buggy Bath Ltd as successful as they are today," read the GoFundMe page.

"Sadly, both businesses were operated out of the unit that has now burnt down, meaning they have lost not only all their equipment for both businesses but also their income.

"Their contents insurance had expired while they took a well-deserved holiday last week, meaning they will have to re-equip their entire businesses from scratch.

"They have both worked relentlessly to make their business a success, so they can give their little Reeva the best life she can have.

"It breaks my heart that they have had everything they have worked so hard for taken away from them in a night.

"Our family, of course, will be there to support them, but there has been endless messages from others asking what they can do to help. So please any donation as small as it is, will mean the world to them.

"You will come back from this stronger Em and Ben, we are all behind you."
