Bim Afolami, the MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, recently visited Hitchin Beer and Cider Festival and Kingfisher Court during a round of local visits.
Along with Sarah Betteley, chair of the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, Mr Afolami toured Kingfisher Court in Radlett on Friday, June 16.
The healthcare facility opened in 2014 following a £42m investment and provides adult acute mental health care and specialist support and care for those with learning difficulties.
During the visit, Mr Afolami and Ms Betteley toured the site and discussed ongoing work to improve care and support patients.
The MP said: “It was great to visit Kingfisher Court – where amazing support is already being provided for people in our community needing specialist care and treatment.
"Our discussions centred around the amazing work and environment they are creating to support people and how we can continue to improve local services, so that people right across Hitchin, Harpenden and the villages can access world class healthcare."
The day after his trip to Kingfisher Court, Mr Afolami visited Hitchin Beer and Cider Festival at Hitchin Rugby Club.
The Festival is organised by the North Herts Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA North Herts), and raised money for the rugby club and CAMRA North Herts across three sessions at the weekend.
Mr Afolami said: “The Hitchin Beer and Cider Festival is a fantastic annual event, bringing local people together and raising money for two great non-profits in our community.

"I had a great time at the Festival on Saturday – and I enjoyed trying some of the products that were on offer!
“CAMRA do some great work championing local pubs and breweries – both of which form key parts of our communities in Hitchin and the villages.
"This Festival is always a good opportunity for me to speak to some of their local supporters and find out all about the work they are doing in our area.
“The Festival will be back in Hitchin next year and I look forward to seeing lots more local people there then!"
