Officers from Hertfordshire police tackled sheep that were 'running amok' in Baldock earlier this week.

The incident took place on Sunday (June 18) on North Road.

After attempting to stop the sheep from entering the road, the officers successfully shepherded the animals back to their owners.

A spokesperson for Herts police said: "Officers from North Herts Police Team 3 Intervention/Response may have woken ewe with their sirens early this morning (Sunday) when they responded to reports of sheep running amok on North Road in Baldock.

"Usually out catching crooks, the team flocked to the area to herd the sheep safely out of the carriageway.

"We bleated at them to stay out of the road but they thought we were a bit woolly and decided to go on the lamb instead.

"Thankfully they didn’t try to ram us off the road, otherwise they would now be behind baaas!

"Eventually, we managed to shepherd them back to their owners and PC Hamilton (pictured with one of the suspects) wool be completing the paperwork."
