A not-for-profit gymnastics club has launched a Crowdfunder appeal in a bid to find a permanent home and provide a gym for the whole community - from pre-school children to senior citizens.

Pix Gymnastics Club is a British Gymnastics registered club currently using the Pix Brook Academy sports hall in Stotfold, running classes two evenings a week and on a Saturday morning.

"We started in 2021 with a relatively small amount of equipment, which was purchased personally by our founder," explained Susan Stephenson, treasurer for the club.

"A small team of qualified coaches and enthusiastic volunteer helpers have seen the club grow to a membership of over 230 children and a waiting list of over 200.

"Whilst the Pix Brook Academy Sports hall is a fantastic training venue, it has its restrictions.

"We need to have access during the day to be able to provide activities for mothers and toddlers, pre-school children and senior citizens."

It is also not ideal that the club has to pack away its equipment after each session, storing it in a 20ft container outside.

"The unpredictable British weather can give us some serious challenges," laughed Susan.

The club has launched a Crowdfunding page, hoping to raise £15,000 to secure a long lease on a more permanent home.

Thanks to the support of local businesses, donors can choose a reward worth more than the value of their donation - from haircuts to photoshoots, and even a children's party. You need to be quick though, because availability is limited.

"Our vision is to obtain a well-located, dedicated building with easy access by foot for our local community and enough parking for those members travelling from further afield," Susan said.

"It will be a multifunctional building to include a gymnastics hall, viewing and seating area, additional training rooms, dance studio, weights and fitness room.

"Our new gym will offer gymnastics to all disciplines, both for competitive and recreational.

"The gym will be available to all of our community, from pre-school to senior citizens, disabled and underprivileged. We will be a community-focused gym with our mission to be available and inclusive to all."
