THIS sunny bank holiday weekend, hundreds of people paid a visit to Swindon and Cricklade Railway for the annual Beer and Cider Festival.

The event took place over Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday Monday, and offered locals the chance to go on a steam train and get steamed with a selection of beers and ciders.

Festival goers had the choice of 13 real ales and 10 ciders to choose from, courtesy of the railway's partnership with the local Hop Kettle Brewery.

And the iconic 6695 engine ran all weekend, taking people along the historic tracks.

On top of this, there was also live music on Saturday and Sunday with Retro Band, Jordan Marvell, Grove Radicals and Chelsea Millard providing entertainment for the event.

And in addition to all the lovely beer and cider on offer, a selection of hot and cold food will be available throughout the day from the railway's volunteer-run Whistlestop Cafe.

The railway has recently celebrated its 45th anniversary of running and is currently on the lookout for more volunteers to help keep it going.
