Hertfordshire has plenty of Airbnbs, but not all of them are your standard property.

Here's 5 quirky listings with a difference in the county.

1. Victorian water tower - Benington

This stunning property was once hidden away in the Hertfordshire countryside, kept a secret for the last century.

Now you can stay in this jaw-dropping 85ft former Victorian water tower, that comes with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and can house up to eight guests.

Original features have been preserved, including the spiral staircase that leads to the bedrooms, while the engine room houses a dining table for eight, a stylish Ercol sofa, Swedish burner and a baby grand piano.

There is also a mezzanine, Minstrel balcony and sitting room.

The property's full-equipped kitchen comes with a dishwasher, pans, cutlery, crockery, large fridge, ceramic hob and oven and a microwave, providing the perfect space to whip up a great meal.

Surrounded by towering trees and plenty of greenery, the property has a great outdoor space to enjoy the sun if you stay in the summer months.

This beautiful property will set you back £625-per-night, but it's perfect for a weekend getaway with friends or family, and is worth every penny.

2. Riverside Retreat - Radwell

The listing claims "children call it The Witches House", and you can see why, because this property looks straight out of a fairytale.

"A mezzanine provides the main bedroom," the listing continues.

"Downstairs is a log burning stove, a double sofa bed, and all the facilities needed.

"French doors open to a patio over the river and woodland views."

With space for four guests and two beds, this is a great getaway with lovely views at just £85-per-night. It's a property with a real difference too.

3. Astwick Manor Lodge - Hatfield

Fancy a night in a fully restored 1934 Romany showman's caravan? Of course you do!

Found just outside Hatfield, this cosy property has a double bed, heating and electricity, but outside space is the really exciting thing.

You can enjoy those long summer evenings by your own fire pit, or relax in the hot tub, which is available from spring to autumn.

The property is also pet friendly, but it will cost an extra £10-per-night, so you can take your four-legged friend away with you.

You can stay in this unique property for £110-per-night.

4. The Rookery Shepherds Hut - Benington

Another Benington property now, and this one is similar to the caravan in our previous entry.

You get the basics at The Rookery, with a double bed that pulls down from the wall, a bathroom, gas cooker, BBQ, hot water and solar lighting.

But this property is all about staying somewhere different and having an experience, which you certainly will here.

You can book this listing for £100-per-night.

5. Woodland yurt - Collier's End

Not many Airbnb stays are described as "physically demanding" in the listing, but that's exactly what you can expect at Colliers End.

Definitely a stay for outdoors people, the off-grid yurt is just one circular room with a sofa bed, chairs and a table, as well as an attached sheltered outside kitchen and bathroom outbuilding.

There is a glass fronted stove in the centre of the yurt and firewood available for cooking, but there is no electricity so torches and candles will be needed.

Getting to the yurt - which is situated in an ancient woodland on an organic farm - sounds like a challenge in winter though, with the listing reading: "The track is very muddy in the winter and impossible to drive so you need to leave your car at the gate, 1km away and walk to the yurt. We can provide you with a wheelbarrow."

Despite the testing nature of staying in the yurt, it does sound idyllic.

"For wildlife lovers: Hear the dawn chorus in the morning as the sun rises and after seeing the sunset through the trees listen to the owl, deer and bats," reads the listing.

"For farm lovers: visit our flock of colourful, free range hens and watch our sheep grazing in a bee friendly meadow.

"For walkers: Step outside and start your adventure."
