The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Hertfordshire, with heavy rain and thunderstorms set to hit the county this evening.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 11am on Tuesday until 10pm, and covers much of the south of England.

The heavy showers and thunder are expected to cause disruption to travel, with driving conditions also likely to be affected.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop through Tuesday, some becoming slow-moving across more southern and eastern parts of England during the afternoon and evening.

"A few places could see 20 mm of rain within an hour and possibly 30-40 mm in 2-3 hours, along with lightning and hail."
