'Exciting new pieces' by a Hitchin composer will be performed at a concert celebrating the beauty of our planet.

The Jubilate choir will perform 'Only a Little Planet' on Wednesday, May 17 - a programme of music and poetry dedicated to the beauty of the natural world.

Hitchin resident and Jubilate conductor John Edwards composed music for the concert to accompany lyrics written by his granddaughter Sophie.

The pieces were written during the 2020-2021 lockdown, as John pondered the state of the world and the challenges facing humanity.

As well as the music, the concert will also feature speakers from the Hitchin Nature Network and other groups - aiming to be an entertaining and thought-provoking evening.

The concert will take place at Woodside Hall in Walsworth Road, adjacent to the Woodside car park, and starts at 7.45pm.
