Great Ashby District Park's toddler play area has undergone a refurbishment and is now open for children to enjoy. 

A new musical station - with a xylophone and bongo drums - has been added along with a specific toddler timber swing with flowers, and a refurbished slide.

Sarah Kingsley, place director, said: "We tried to refurbish the play equipment where possible, and source sustainable, fun alternatives to the old equipment.

"The new lawn will create a softer and more natural environment for the children to play in, with new bulbs being planted in the autumn.

"This will also help reduce the temperature of the play area during seasons of drought."

Working with Groundwork East, North Herts Council reopened the area after the new grass had time to establish.

Catherine Browne, landscape architect from Groundwork East, said: "It was a pleasure to redesign this play space which we hope children will enjoy for years to come.”
