An application has been made to extend the hours a restaurant is allowed to open its garden.
Chez Burton's licence currently allows the garden to be in use until 10pm.
Now, owner Neill Burton has asked North Herts Council's Licensing Committee to review the licence to allow him to keep the garden open until midnight, in line with the restautant closing time.
The restaurant was granted a licence to open the garden space in April 2022, despite concerns from neighbours that it would keep them up at night.
At the time, Mr Burton agreed to the 10pm curfew as a compromise in response to some of the objections, and said he would ensure fences and low-level lighting would protect the privacy and amenity of those living nearby.

He said at the 2022 meeting: “We’re not a for-profit business, we are a family-run restaurant, we are neighbours of other people and the principles of being a good neighbour as a family are no different to what Chez Burton wants.”
The consultation for the variation of premises licence is open.
