One of Hertfordshire Life's top picnic destinations, Tewinbury is a twitcher's paradise.

A two-storey hide is great for birdwatchers of all ages, just to the north of Welwyn Garden City.

Slightly further north, the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust look after Tewin Orchard and Hopkyns Wood, where the trust hosts family badger-themed events throughout the year.

In the spring, spot badgers, apple blossom, deer and kites.

In the summertime, new flora emerges, before house martins, swallows and bullfinches gather in the reserve in the autumn and winter.

The touring exhibition from the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration will take place at the North Hertfordshire Museum on Brand Street, Hitchin.

The ‘BFG in Pictures’ is the first exhibition of work by Quentin Blake for Roald Dahl’s enduring tale.

Blake and Dahl collaborated closely on the final illustrations, and Blake himself selected 40 pieces from his archive for the exhibition, from which reproductions have been made.

Go and enjoy the children’s activities and have a go at drawing the BFG.

The free exhibition can be enjoyed between February 11 and April 23.
